Through the collaboration between GIA Cyber and Information Technology Disaster Resource Center, rural communities can receive practical technology support that helps them stay connected during both planned events and unexpected disruptions. Some examples of services that may be supported through this partnership include:

Emergency WiFi and connectivity after disasters so residents, emergency responders, and community organizations can communicate and access online services.
• Temporary internet and router deployments for community shelters, food distribution sites, and recovery centers.
• Technology support for planned community events, including pop up WiFi networks for festivals, education programs, and public gatherings in areas with limited connectivity.
• Connectivity support for rural schools, libraries, and community centers that need temporary internet access for programs or workshops.
• Technical assistance and equipment staging, such as routers, networking gear, and connectivity hardware needed to restore communications quickly.
• Digital coordination tools for local organizations and volunteers responding to emergencies or running large community initiatives.

By combining GIA Cyber’s local presence and relationships in rural areas with ITDRC’s national network of volunteer technologists and connectivity resources, communities gain access to technology support that helps them remain connected, organized, and resilient when it matters most.

“When we come together, we do more than combine efforts, we strengthen each other’s missions to better serve entire communities and uplift society as a whole.”
